Valle Do Sol
Florianopolis, Brazil
Designed for a client from Southern California who fell in love with the island of Florianopolis, on the South of Brazil.
Florianopolis, much like Santa Cruz, CA is a university town where surf is even more popular than soccer. With a population of 400,000, a vibrant economy, yet a laid-back atmosphere, it has become one of the most desirable places to live in Brazil.
The program included 5 bedrooms with double living areas, so that it could be used by 2 families at a time. Masonry construction, Brazilian mahogany, local roof tiles and stones from the nearby quarry were used to render a traditional style prevalent in the area.
With all the living spaces facing the ocean, it’s perfectly suited for the “Endless Summer” lifestyle of this famous surf spot.
