Designed with open spaces to relax, a floor plan allowing the client to pursue their music and fine arts activities, and generous fenestration to view the ocean, the Uplands residence delivers a California coastal style.

The design included a subtle touch that would accomplish the client’s wishes, a soft flare in the roof overhang characteristic of Oriental constructions. The flare extends a waving arm to the other side of the Pacific Ocean wher ethe client’s ancestors lived. The design captures this idea in a simple and profound manner.
